Getting Started with the PULSE Inventory RECALC Program
The Pulse Inventory RECALC application is tailored to use your unique business rules
Calculating the correct amount of inventory that must be available, by item, is often a lengthy and tedious process. The PULSE Inventory RECALC program allows you to conveniently update critical Macola® inventory data fields based on your business needs. The Item/Loc Fields in Macola® that may be updated are:
- Reorder Level
- Order Up-To Level
- Safety Stock
- Vendor Lead Time
Part of the implementation is to tailor it to meet your unique business rules. These rules can be static for the entire year or can vary depending on usage including your busy or slow times of the year. The product price includes up to six hours of setup programming.
Information that needs to be supplied to Leahy Consulting:
1. What criteria is used for determining when to order? This is the Reorder Level. This rule
may differ between purchased and manufactured items.
2. When a replenishment order is placed, what determines how much to have on hand when
the order is received? This is the Order-Up-To Level. For example, a one- or two-month
supply of the item is all that needs to be stocked and available at any time, unless lead
times are longer than that.
3. How much of an item should be maintained in inventory for emergencies? This is the Safety
Stock.
4. Are there any items and/or stocking locations that need to be excluded from these rules?
Note: PULSE Dashboard each night computes several real-time data fields that can be
incorporated in the above business rules:
- 3, 6 and 12-month total quantity usage
- 3, 6, and 12-month average usage
- Months or days of inventory on-hand
- Date of last Purchase, Sale, Manufacture, Usage and Inventory activity
** Note also that you can override any of the quantities recommended by the software.
